I had my interview today with the director of the D.Min. program at George Fox Seminary in Portland, OR. At the end of the interview, I was informed that I am officially accepted into their DMin program and will be starting in the Fall. The official program is a DMin in Emerging Leadership and the director/mentor is Len Sweet.
The program will look at helping me:
* Establish a conceptual basis for “leadership in the emerging culture”
* Develop a ministry vision and “voice” in effective leadership
* Explore how one’s identification with the person of Christ impacts one’s self-perception as a leader
* Engage in and reflect on a cross-cultural experience in order to “think globally and act locally” with regard to leadership issues in their particular ministry contexts
* Reflect on the essential intermingling of leadership and spiritual formation in corporate Christian contexts
* Synthesize a coherent theology of leadership in the emerging culture that will serve to inform their practice of leadership
I have a background in Chaos Theory/Complex Adaptive Systems and in talking with Len Sweet, he wants to work with me to help answer this question…how does church leadership help others to change, and to change itself? There is such a lack of a theology of change in the church. We are in the change business, and yet we have the least to contribute to change studies and the emerging change science.
Also, I was told today that Dan Kimball with be both a student and a mentor in my cohort group, so I’ll be spending 3 years with Dan Kimball as well.
I start in August…
I AM PUMPED!

Wowwy, wow wow. Very cool man. Congrats!
Awesome! I’m jealous!
That is really cool. We’re excited for you.
But does that mean you’ll be leaving the area? : (
Nope…I’m in Portland only one week per summer…everything else is done here in Delaware… I have no intention of moving! We love it here too much!
