Steve Brown Sermon
February 24, 2007
Last year, Steve Brown preached at Northland - A Church Distributed, in Orlando, FL. I download the podcast and turns out he is speaking about how to get along with other Christians with different views. The sermon was titled, “Carnage, Coercion, and Co-Existence (peace and Unity among porcupines)”.
If you don’t know Steve, he’s a conservative Presbyterian and Professor at Reformed Theological Seminary.
This is an exposition of Romans 14:1-19, speaking about not offending your weaker brother. “Every Christian who is free ought to live their life so that uptight Christians don’t believe their saved.” Great Line!
This is a great message.

DP Radio, the Feb 22, 2007 edition, is on the air. In today’s broadcast, we begin a discussion about truth, we also discuss a little Britney Spears, as a well as an interview with Aaron Lee of prayzimbabwe.org. Throw in a little ABBA and 99 Red Balloons, and it’s an all around good time! One more thing, I’m working through an idea of Truth as a multi-facited jewel. When you hear this podcast, don’t think that I believe in only one aspect of truth.

Happy Mardi Gras!
February 20, 2007
It’s Mardi Gras 2007. I love this time of the year, especially when I lived in New Orleans. Tonight, my wife and I will be going to a themed Mardi Gras dinner cooked and demonstrated by a professional chef. We’ll have New Orleans bouillabaisse with Andouille sausage & caramelized Cajun leeks; Mixed Greens with Feta Cheese & Aged Balsamic Vinaigrette; Creole Mustard Crusted Filet of Beef topped with Lump Crab Croquette; Pureed Cauliflower Cheddar Mousse finished with wild mushroom Wine Sauce; King Cake and Beignets. We will also get the recipes! We’ll see how authentic it is.
They Like Jesus but Not the Church
February 20, 2007
One of my classmates in my DMin work is Dan Kimball. I really like Dan and his many of his views on things; He is also incredibly creative and funny.
Dan has written a new book, entitled, They Like Jesus but Not the Church. It has just been released, and it’s on order from the big river (Amazon). I can’t wait to read it AFTER I get my work done for my DMin (yeah, right!). Anyway, check it. I hear it offers some great insights that we need to explore.
Dan says about the book:
It will be interesting to see the response to They Like Jesus but not the Church, as I imagine some church leaders won’t be too happy about how people view the church or how I agree with a lot that is said about the church. I don’t blame them for how many outside the church see us. But there is great hope, if we only realize that we have not been to Jesus-like in many situations or realize how we hide in the Christian bubble and get so entrenched in the strange sub-culture that most people don’t get to meet us and build trust in us.
Zondervan’s blurb on it states:
This is a ministry resource book exploring six of the most common objects and misunderstandings emerging generations have about the church and Christianity. The objections come from conversations and interviews the church has had with unchurched twenty and thirty-somethings at coffee houses. Each chapter raises the objection using a conversational approach, provides the biblical answers to that objection, gives examples of how churches are addressing this objection, and concludes with follow-through projection suggestions, discussion questions, and resource listings.
