While doing this series on Whose Religion is Christianity, I realize the role of Bible translation and its impact the renewal of cultural in Africa. It is of great importance that we encourage and participate however we can in helping those who do not have the scriptures in their own language.

This morning, while perusing my blog logs, I noticed a visit from The Seed Company, based in Arlington, TX. So I googled them and discovered that they are an organization that does Bible translation for people groups all over the world. They are based in Arlington, TX and are affiliated with Wycliffe Bible Translators.

According to their website:

“Creatively networking God’s people around the world to translate the Bible into every language for His glory” is the vision of The Seed Company. By bringing the resources of Christians to the needs of translators, we develop partnerships that result in effective translation efforts. Seed Company projects are clearly defined in terms of time, cost and results. Linguistic and technical training are provided. Translated Scripture is checked for clarity and accuracy. Close ties of accountability are established. Supporting partners share in the struggles and successes of the project. The results? Another people group receiving God’s message in their own heart language!

They also state that over 2200 people groups need a translation of the Bible in their language and that represents approximately 196 million people. As a result, they have set a goal of beginning translation in an additional 200 languages in the next three years.

To achieve that, they have set up their website where you can choose a particular people group that they are focusing on and commit to pray for that people group and/or give financially specifically to provide the resources to achieve a translation for that people group.

You might check them out and consider doing this for a particular people group. I am looking around amongst the people groups myself to see how I can support this ministry.
