Last weekend, my wife and I went to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., which is about 1.5 hours from our house. Afterwards, we went Ebenezer’s Coffeehouse, which is owned by National Community Church pastored by Mark Batterson.
As we are not coffee drinkers, my wife had a Hot Apple Cider with Caramel, and I had just Hot Apple Cider. You can see more pictures of Ebenezer’s at this set at my photoblog
Post-Modernism and the Emerging Church
January 24, 2008
This is a video with R.C. Sproul, Al Mohler, and Ravi Zacharias discussing post-modernism, modernism, liberalism, and the emergent church. The question is asked, Is there any real difference among the four? I’ll reserve my comments for later, but the comment about Mohler being the pre-eminent scholar of postmoderism and the emerging church is unfortunate.
Become Who You Are
January 24, 2008
I love this song. One of our church members recommended this song as part of the series I’m preaching called “HelpMe2Change”. The song is “Become Who You Are” by Mainstay.
BTW…this is another example of my use of a virtual assistant. Erin outsourced this to someone she knows. This is the second video Ron has done for me and he is quite good. I could never do this kind of work and what I could do would take so much time I wouldn’t have time for anything else.

Gardening for God
January 21, 2008
My wife (yep, I’m advertising her blog again) has a really good post on how the church can use its property to feed the community. This is a great idea of being missional AND using the church property for more than just parking.
She says:
I like the authors suggestion for churches to plant a community garden on their church property to offer home-grown vegetables and fruits to families and individuals who may not have the funds to buy these healthy foods.
Introducing a new blogger: Brenna Phillips
January 19, 2008
My wife Brenna’s blog is now online and she is posting. Today is her first post. I’ve been encouraging her to do this as she has a great amount of wisdom to share. She has been actively doing Children’s Ministry since 1992. Here is a little bio on here:
I have a B.S. Degree in elementary education from Florida Southern College and a Master of Arts Degree in Christian Education with childhood education specialization from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I have served as Children’s/Family Minister in Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, and Delaware. I taught as adjunct faculty status at a private Christian college in Birmingham, Alabama.
I currently work as Program Director & Preschool teacher at a private Christian school and serve as Children/Family minister at Mission Fellowship Church in Middletown, Delaware.
Her first post is about an educational philosophy called the Reggio Emilio Approach.
I am hoping she will be making regular posts on Children and Family Ministry as well as other educational approaches. I am very proud of her entry into the blogosphere.
BTW…if you or your church needs some consulting or training on Children’s ministry, Brenna’s done it in traditional churches, small churches, large churches, very large churches, Baptist churches, somewhat Baptist churches and non-Baptist churches as well as emerging/contemporary churches. She would be a great asset for you.
Luv you sweety!
