Southern Cooking

February 28, 2008

I’m from Alabama.  And I grew up on biscuits & gravy.  Hardee’s has chicken biscuits for breakfast, at least in the South, though if you go north of Virginia, they all but disappear.

Well tonight, I had a hankering, and so for dinner I made some fried chicken with gravy, biscuits, and homestyle potatoes…

Hmm….felt like I was at Cracker Barrel!

I wish I could go into more detail right now, but there is a great need to pray for those helping to rebuild this country.

Write One Thing and Write it Well

February 26, 2008

I’m working hard on my writing.  It’s not yet showing up on this blog, but I’ve got two new books underway and then my doctoral dissertation that I will be starting in the summer.  So I’ve looking around blogs that focus on writing and one I like is called Write to Done.

I ran across this post this morning and thought it was excellent.  The details of each of the 9 points are found in the original post, so check it out.  Enjoy!

Write one thing today, and write it well. Here’s how.

1. Simplifying your writing.

2. Create a clear goal.

3. Set your goal the night before.

4. Focus on something important.

5. Block out time.

6. Pour all your energy into it.

7. Be proud of the job you’ve done.

8. Take time to review this accomplishment.

9. Prepare for tomorrow.

Praying for Unbelievers

February 26, 2008

From the Your Journey Blog.  There are 11, here are 5 of the 11.

1. That God draws them to Himself - Jn.6:44: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him …”

2. That they seek to know God. - Acts 17:27: “God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.”

3. That they believe the Scriptures - 1 Thess. 2:13: “And we also thank God continually because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God …”

4. That Satan is bound from blinding them to the truth - Mt. 13:19: “When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.”

5. That the Holy Spirit Works in them - Jn. 16:8-13: “When the Holy Spirit comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment…..He will guide you into all truth…”
