Reframing Success in Ministry: The New Metrics

The New Ministry Matrix

The Missional Metrics

My next series of posts will look at changing our understanding of the measures we use to define success in ministry. During this church growth and consumeristic age, we have redefined success in terms of how many and how much – how many people, programs and baptism  and how much money collected and spent. We have built giant temples to the great gods of showmanship and production and worshiped at the feet of video projected images on the wall. We have justified our attempts as biblical by noting the use of numbers in the New Testament: Jesus fed 5,000 men and there were 3,000 men baptized at Pentecost.

But the Bible speaks of success in a completely different manner. We will begin to explore this next week. The Missional Matrix gives us a new missional metrics. What are they? Join in next week to discuss it.

If one person submits to another person, is the other person therefore in authority over the one submitting?
