Except Roll Tide!

A New Era Begins

September 1, 2007

Alabama LogoA new era begins today in college football. If you are a fan of the following schools be afraid…be very afraid: Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Georgia, Florida, and Florida State. While we will not win it all this year, I’m predicting 9-3, the journey is underway. Difficult times await those who play and recruit against Alabama.

Alabama begins today the Nick Saban era. He came in with a flurry in January and pulled quality recruits. This year, he already has 17 verbal commitments with an anticipated commitment from the nation’s second ranked dual threat quarterback, Star Jackson, this coming week. The second best player in the country, Julio Jones, has Alabama high on his list as well.

The coaches around him are not only awesome recruiters, but excellent coaches. Some have served on staff with him in other places while others bring a reputation for excellence. They all have championship experience either as coaches or players.

Then you have the atmosphere of college football, in one of the most historic parts of the country. With it’s twelve national championships, the best coach who ever walked the college sidelines, and the memory of a spring football scrimmage where over 92,000 showed up, there is no better place to watch a college football game. Alabama fans are passionate, 365 days a year passionate. There is no off season. There is gameday season, recruiting season, spring practice season, summer camps season, fall practice season, and then we’re back to gameday season all over again. Everything is watched with intensity. Nothing escapes the true Alabama fan.

AT 7:00 pm EDT this evening, I will sit in front of my television and turn the channel to wherever ESPN Gamplan has Alabama playing. I will push the record button on my DVR and watch Alabama play the Western Carolina Catamounts. I expect a blowout.

Want you find the game yourself and be treated to first game in the new era of college football?
